Sculptor Daniel Silver

Daniel Steel has been "arting it" (my new slang term I hope catches on and becomes a national word phenom...like "phenom") since roughly 1995 or so...His style sometimes reminds me of this collection of old  tree branches and old boards decorated up to look like weird creatures and people. A couple of bachelor farmer brothers in Montana made them about 60 years ago and they were on display in an art museum in Missoula...I think...it was one of those crazy motorcycle trips I took and it involved a lot of bar hopping, beer drinking and...uh...other stuff...well, I did meet an attractive museum curator who felt bad I was sleeping in a tent and...uh...I was slender and attractive at that time...uh...er...and she thought an artist on a motorcycle was kind of cool and romantic...uh....never mind.

On the top, I'm putting one of the Steen brother's works and Silver's stuff is below that. I think the SEX work is very well representative of American obsessions...ie...Sex In The City etc... It is decorative in his work but the act itself is kind of gross and ugly and messy and results in all kinds of weird dilemmas and entanglements. If I ever marry again...I think I'm going to strive for a perfectly platonic relationship with separate bedrooms and see what happens. Of course, Silver's work may be gender oriented as well...but...that word has a huge visual impact.

Anyway...this Steen brother piece is a long branch...if I remember right, it's about 7 feet tall, made to look like a French "arteest" with his beret, pallet, and brush...
