Dr Platt' Bias

Yes, the more I reflect on Dr Platt's presentation, the less I like it. It was decidedly biased against the military and policemen.

First of all, her perspective was completely one-sided with a police state. It is fine that she warn people about a potential police state but the last time I checked, the police were not rounding up voters to go vote for their political candidate. She could have also enhanced her presentation with balance by commenting on the heroism of Moscow Police Officer Lee Newbill who was bullet riddled in the line of duty preventing some dude from shooting up all the peace-loving hippies of the Moscow community who were listening to music at John's Alley that night.

Second, the Abu Ghraib and G-Bay is also a fine topic to bring up. But the dramatic images she presented were horrifically anti-military. That hurt, to be honest. She could have balanced the perspective with a comment about how emotional we all became when we watched the Twin Towers fall. (I wonder what she was thinking at the time as a New York native...hmmm....just guessing...it was probably something like; "Go kick their damned asses!!! That's my home and my people!!!" And I'm sure the ones in charge of G-Bay and Abu Ghraib experienced the same emotions and brought that with them. All were inflamed by images the way her images inflame others.) Also, she could mention how Afghan heroin dealers are giving loans to farmers to grow heroin and then when they can't pay back, the dealers take their kids as ransom. They especially like young girls and I'll leave that to your imagination. Maybe a mention or two of some local folks who died like one from Palouse killed in action or veterans now coming home without legs, arms etc...

You see she propagates an invalid conspiracy theory. People who haven't served in official capacity seem to think that everyone who did is a secret spy for the government. It's like those idiots who run around saying that the Towers were brought down so we could dominate the middle east through war. Sorry...hate to disappoint everyone but that was all just a big fuck-up. People in official capacity are humans who fuck up just like everyone else. The whole day on 11 September 2001 was simply a complete cluster-fuck and I find that scarier than the idea of conspiracy.

By being radical and biased in her approach, I'm afraid Dr Platts is alienating a bunch of non-sophisticated, uneducated, dumb bastards who happen to believe in women's rights in the middle east, the common person's right to vote and have a life, and protecting our own home from the possibility of nuclear attack.

As for me, I laugh at myself in the mirror in the morning every time I meet someone like Dr Platts. Once again, some person with a degree or two thinks they are too special to do something of real value...like serve soup to the homeless, go off and fight NAZIs in WW2, help bring down the true police state of communism during the Cold War.  I wonder..."Do you ever see anything beautiful in America Dr. Platts? Are you willing to go do the dirty work that many dumb, poor, uneducated bastards have to go do for you to be able to publish your book? Or do you just sit on the sidelines and bitch when things start to go sour for the home team?"
